Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa Lends Weight to 2025 Pan-Afrikan Drum Festival in Canada

The 2025 Pan-Afrikan Drum Festival is steadily gaining traction as the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa pledges robust support for the cultural initiative. A high-level delegation, including Prince Segun Akanni, Convener of the festival, Prince Julius Ojo, Founder of Julicare Foundation, and Mr. David Oyedele, visited the High Commission to discuss the upcoming event slated for July 25th and 26th.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Ms. Rose Yakowa, Minister Counsellor/Head of Chancery, and introduced to the Head of Mission, Ambassador HE Abba Zanna-Kawu, Charge’ D’ Affaires ai. Ambassador Abba, along with Mrs. Joy Adeniran, Minister, Political and Consular, hosted the visitors for an engaging and fruitful one-hour meeting. 
The purpose of the visit was to brief the mission about the festival and seek its support in promoting the celebration among Nigerians in the diaspora. Ambassador Abba expressed enthusiastic approval for the event, commending the organizers for their vision and dedication to celebrating African heritage. He highlighted the festival’s role in uplifting the image of Nigerians living abroad, particularly in Canada.
In his remarks, Prince Segun Akanni shared his gratitude for the warm reception and valuable advice received from Ambassador Abba and other officials. “He commended our efforts and shared several insightful ideas and suggestions on how to make the 2025 edition event more colorful and impactful,” Akanni noted.
The High Commission assured the delegation of its full collaboration and stressed the importance of maintaining communication for ongoing support. With this diplomatic endorsement, preparations for the festival are now in full swing.
The 2025 Pan-Afrikan Drum Festival promises to showcase Africa’s rich rhythm and culture with an array of engaging activities, including an investment forum, youth empowerment sessions, drum-beating competitions, art exhibitions, fashion shows, beauty pageants, dancing competitions, and lectures. Additionally, the presentation of the Award of Excellence will highlight the vibrant celebration.
The grand finale is scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Emerald Banquet Hall in Etobicoke, Ontario, while the Investment Forum and Youth Empowerment sessions will take place in Brampton on Friday, July 25th.
With diverse cultural highlights, the festival stands as a beacon of African unity, rhythm, and creativity, ensuring attendees leave with unforgettable memories.
