Delta State’s Commissioner for Works (Highways & Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze (Esq.), has publicly declared his full support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s decision to realign with the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a bold shift in Delta’s political landscape.
In a passionate statement titled “I STAND WITH SHERIFF,” the commissioner threw his weight behind what he described as a “well-informed and pragmatic” move by Governor Oborevwori, in coordination with other leaders in the state, to “recalibrate the political piston” from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
“Politics across the world, from medieval times, has never been a vocation for the craven or lily-livered,” Izeze said, addressing criticisms and speculations surrounding the realignment. “I am 100% in support of the decision. Underestimate Sheriff at your own peril,” he warned, touting the Governor’s political savvy and resilience.
Refuting suggestions that his loyalty stems from political convenience, the commissioner described himself as a committed progressive whose conscience and values align with the governor’s leadership. “It is effortless for me to follow their lead once my conscience is convinced,” he stated, adding that he has never compromised his principles for political gain.
Izeze, a long-time public servant, defended his record, asserting that he has never solicited or accepted any form of reward for facilitating employment opportunities.
“We have put the people first at great personal, political, and economic cost,” he said, emphasizing that public service should always prioritize the public good.
The declaration also underscored Izeze’s loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and the APC as a whole, calling both Oborevwori and Tinubu the party’s candidates to watch for the 2027 elections.
He concluded with a firm affirmation of his political alignment: “ALL POLITICS IS LOCAL and OUR PEOPLE ARE WITH US. So help us God. SHERIFF & TINUBU na yin be our candidates for 2027 and APC is our party!”
The announcement follows a recalibration rally held on April 28, 2025, at the Cenotaph in Asaba, which Izeze described as a “dance from the soul,” symbolizing a new beginning for Delta State under a progressive vision.
