In a bold endorsement of Delta State’s economic potential, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori declared the state “safe and secure for investments” during the inauguration of Premium Trust Bank’s newest branch in Effurun on Monday.
The Governor applauded the bank’s rapid rise in Nigeria’s banking sector, commending its expansion just three years after inception. The new branch—Premium Trust Bank’s 21st nationwide and second in Effurun—was hailed as both a strategic investment and a sign of growing investor confidence in Delta.
“Delta is open for business,” Oborevwori proclaimed, emphasizing that the state’s relative peace and access to skilled manpower continue to attract credible institutions like Premium Trust Bank. He praised the bank’s innovation, customer service, and community focus, adding that its presence would boost local commerce, create jobs, and support small businesses.
Highlighting the importance of local inclusion, the Governor urged the bank to employ youths from within the state, noting Delta’s wealth of talented and industrious young people. “By practicing both corporate and social responsibility, the bank can earn the trust of the people and foster strong community ties,” he said.
Oborevwori also addressed security concerns, asserting that while no state is immune to crime, Delta is proactively tackling insecurity. “We are making significant arrests, especially in kidnapping and armed robbery cases. Our people should feel safe and investors should feel confident.”
Premium Trust Bank’s Managing Director, Pastor Emmanuel Emefienem, described the new branch as more than a physical expansion—it’s a commitment to prosperity, trust, and community empowerment.
In just three years, the bank has surged to a N1 trillion balance sheet, ranking among Nigeria’s top 12 most profitable banks. It has also bagged multiple awards, including Africa’s Fastest Growing Bank (2024) and Best Workplace for Women in Nigeria.
Emefienem reaffirmed the bank’s alignment with Delta’s development goals and its commitment to youth and sports, proudly announcing its sponsorship of the upcoming 2025 National Sports Festival.
As Premium Trust Bank plans its fifth branch in Delta, Emefienem promised continued collaboration with the state to grow businesses, promote financial inclusion, and build a thriving economic future.
“To the people of Effurun, Warri, and beyond—this branch is yours. It is a hub of opportunity, innovation, and shared progress,” he said.
