As the 2027 general elections approach, Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, has dismissed mounting calls for him to contest any political position.

Izeze, a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly, made this known in a statement released on Monday, where he reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I am not contesting any elections in 2027,” Izeze declared.

“I am simply doing my bit to gather as much support and votes as possible for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and all candidates of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

He expressed deep appreciation for the confidence his supporters have shown in him, noting that while he is honored by the calls to run, his current priority is to contribute to the party’s overall success in the upcoming elections.

“I appreciate the trust and confidence of my supporters urging me to contest, but now is not the time. My focus remains on strengthening the party and ensuring our candidates win across the board,” he added.

Izeze emphasized the importance of unity within the APC, especially at a time when Nigeria is at a critical juncture of its democratic journey.

He urged party members and stakeholders to close ranks and work together in support of the developmental agenda of the current administration at both state and federal levels.

“As a party, we must stay focused and united. The task before us is to consolidate on the achievements of our leaders and deliver more dividends of democracy to our people. That’s where my energy and loyalty are directed,” he said.

The former lawmaker, whose bursary initiative enters its second year with over 500 beneficiaries, continues to serve as a pillar of academic encouragement and financial support for students from Ughievwen and Ughelli South striving for excellence in higher education.

Izeze’s decision not to join the 2027 race is seen by political observers as a move that could further strengthen internal cohesion within the APC in Delta State, where efforts are ongoing to boost the party’s grassroots mobilization ahead of the elections.
