AGN President Dr. Emeka Rollas Mourns the Passing of MOPPAN Leader Umar Mai Kudi, a.k.a. Cashman

The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, MON, has issued a heartfelt statement mourning the death of Umar Mai Kudi, popularly known in the Nigerian entertainment industry as Cashman.
Until his passing, Cashman served as the National President of the Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN).
In his tribute, Dr. Rollas described Cashman as “an intelligent, articulate, creative genius,” emphasizing that his death represents a profound loss to Nigeria’s creative sector. He praised Cashman’s enduring contributions, highlighting his visionary leadership and dedication to the motion picture industry.
“His lifetime was marked with indelible accomplishments through his services to the creative industry and humanity,” Dr. Rollas said. “He left strong legacies in the industry and would forever be remembered. We feel so bad that he had to leave at this auspicious time when the industry needed him most.”
On behalf of the AGN, Dr. Rollas extended his deepest condolences to the family of the late MOPPAN President, as well as to the broader creative community, friends, and members of MOPPAN. He offered prayers for divine mercy upon Cashman’s soul.
“We pray Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants his soul Aljanat Firdaus,” Dr. Rollas added.

Umar Mai Kudi, fondly remembered as Cashman, was a respected voice and tireless advocate for the growth of the Nigerian film industry, particularly in the northern region. His death marks a significant moment of grief and reflection within Nollywood and the broader Nigerian cultural community.
