Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, His Excellency Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, has commenced a two-day working visit to key military institutions in Kaduna State, aimed at assessing ongoing infrastructure projects and strengthening cooperation between the Federal Government and military educational establishments.

On the first day of the visit, Monday, June 2, the Minister toured the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna, where he was received by the institution’s Commandant, Major General A.K. Ibrahim. During the visit, the Minister inspected several ongoing and completed infrastructure projects while engaging with senior officers and management of the Academy.

Briefing the Minister on the Academy’s operations, Major General Ibrahim highlighted recent achievements and developments, including enhancements to academic and military training facilities. He expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for its consistent support and commended the Honourable Minister for his exemplary leadership and dedication to advancing military education in Nigeria.

In his remarks, Minister Abubakar lauded the Academy’s commitment to excellence and innovation in both training and academics. He emphasized the Federal Government’s unwavering support for the institution’s strategic goals, stressing the importance of developing a robust and modern military education system capable of addressing contemporary security challenges.

“The NDA remains a cornerstone of Nigeria’s defence strategy, and the Federal Government is fully committed to ensuring it continues to produce world-class military officers equipped to lead with integrity and competence,” the Minister stated.

During his tour, Minister Abubakar visited several key sites within the NDA, including the Hall of Fame, the under-construction Centre of Excellence, the Senate Building, the Postgraduate School, and the Centre for Innovation and Creativity.

The second leg of the Minister’s tour is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, where he is expected to visit Buffalo Engineering Technical Services (BET) and the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna. These visits form part of the broader effort by the Ministry of Defence to assess institutional capacity, infrastructure readiness, and innovation capabilities across Nigeria’s defence sector.

The visit underscores the Defence Ministry’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the nation’s military institutions and ensuring they are well-positioned to meet Nigeria’s evolving security and defence needs.
