Thousands of residents from across the Central Senatorial District of Kogi State thronged the Okene residence of the immediate past Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, in a colorful and heartwarming celebration of the Eid al-Adha festival.

The event, marked by an outpouring of goodwill, unity, and festivity, showcased the enduring bond between the former Governor and his people. Known for his generosity and down-to-earth demeanor, Alhaji Bello welcomed guests from all walks of life with open arms, turning his home into a communal ground for celebration.

Guests were treated to an elaborate feast, with rows of tables overflowing with traditional dishes and refreshments. The spirit of sharing and togetherness was palpable, as community members mingled freely with their former leader, exchanging greetings and prayers in the spirit of the Sallah season.

Throughout the day, the former Governor was seen moving freely among the crowd, offering warm smiles, heartfelt handshakes, and words of encouragement. His ability to connect with both the old and the young, regardless of social status, reaffirmed his reputation as a people-centric leader.

This gathering is not just about food or celebration; it’s a reminder that leadership is about being present and accessible to the people,” said one community elder in attendance.

For many, the occasion underscored Bello’s enduring popularity and the goodwill he continues to enjoy following his tenure. His record of service, marked by initiatives in security, infrastructure, and youth empowerment, has left a lasting impression on the people of Kogi State.

As the day drew to a close, many attendees expressed gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate Eid with someone they consider not just a former leader, but a brother and father figure.

In a political climate often defined by distance between leaders and the led, Alhaji Yahaya Bello’s humility and generosity during the Eid festivities stood out as a poignant reminder of the impact of servant leadership.

As prayers rose for continued peace and prosperity, one sentiment rang clear among the crowd: Governor Bello may have left office, but he has not left the hearts of his people.
