Delta State has emerged as the most secure and investment-friendly destination for oil and gas operations in Nigeria, according to the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Public Enlightenment (Projects and Policies), Mr. Olisa Ifeajika.
Speaking on Silverbird News24’s News Hub, Ifeajika credited Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration with fostering a stable environment that has attracted key stakeholders in the energy sector.
He noted that through strategic collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders—including Tantita Security Services—the state’s waterways and oil infrastructure have remained free of security breaches.
“Under Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, we’ve made our rivers and creeks safe for business. That’s why Delta continues to lead in oil production,” he said.
Ifeajika also revealed that Delta was recently honoured with the Safest State for Oil and Gas Investment award at the Nigeria Oil & Gas Forum and Award Night, organized by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources in Abuja.
On the political front, Ifeajika reflected on Delta’s consistent political stability since 1999, noting that successive administrations have operated as a unified entity.
“We’ve built a culture of continuity and sustainable development. Every administration has built on the achievements of the previous one. That’s why we’ve seen steady progress without disruption,” he said.
Commenting on the recent political realignment in the state, Ifeajika clarified that the movement from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was a collective decision involving the entire political structure of the state.
“It wasn’t just the governor who moved. Everyone moved. It was a well-considered strategic shift for greater inclusion at the federal level. Delta deserves more than FAAC allocations as the top oil-producing state,” he explained.
He also dismissed reports of internal divisions within the APC following the mass movement, affirming that Governor Oborevwori now serves as the leader of the party in Delta.
“There is no crisis. The state APC Chairman and party leadership have pledged full support to the governor. We are now one united political family,” he said.
On general security, Ifeajika acknowledged that Nigeria faces nationwide challenges such as kidnapping and armed robbery but stressed that Delta remains one of the most peaceful states in the country due to proactive governance and responsive leadership.
“Delta continues to be a model of peace, development, and political maturity. That’s what makes us attractive—not just to oil investors, but to the entire nation,” he concluded.
