Dr. Aliyu Audu, a Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Public Affairs, has officially tendered his resignation from his position, with immediate effect. His resignation was conveyed in a formal letter dated June 8, 2025, addressed to the President through the Chief of Staff.
In his letter, Dr. Audu expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve his country at the highest level, describing it as an honour to contribute to the administration’s public communication efforts. He stated:
“I remain deeply grateful to you, Mr. President, for the opportunity to serve my fatherland under your visionary leadership.”

Dr. Audu’s appointment was approved by President Tinubu on October 9, 2023, following a nomination that came after a brief interaction with Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, the then Special Adviser on Media and Publicity. Dr. Audu singled out Mr. Ngelale for praise, attributing his nomination to the former adviser’s confidence in his capabilities.
“I especially wish to thank Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, whose confidence in me despite our brief acquaintance led to my nomination on the 26th of August, 2023,” he wrote.
He concluded the letter by offering his best wishes to the President and the nation, stating:
“Please accept the assurances of my highest esteem and continued prayers for the success of your leadership and the progress of our beloved nation.”
Dr. Audu signed off his letter under the designation “Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs (Resigned),” formalizing his exit from the administration.
As of the time of reporting, no official statement has been made from the Presidency regarding his resignation or potential replacement.
Dr. Aliyu Audu’s departure adds to the growing list of recent changes within the President’s media and communications team, signaling a possible reorganization of public affairs strategy as the administration advances into its second year.
This development is expected to attract public and political attention, especially from stakeholders monitoring the Tinubu administration’s internal dynamics and messaging framework.
