President Tinubu Reiterates Commitment to National Security at Constitution Review Dialogue

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s security framework through constitutional reforms, as conveyed in a keynote address delivered on his behalf by the Minister of Defence, H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni.
The President’s message was presented at the opening session of the Constitution Review Legislative Dialogue on National Security Architecture, held on Monday at the National Counter Terrorism Centre, Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), in Abuja.
Themed “Nigeria’s Peace and Security: The Constitutional Imperatives,” the high-level dialogue brought together top government officials, security chiefs, lawmakers, legal scholars, and policy experts to deliberate on necessary amendments to the 1999 Constitution in order to enhance Nigeria’s peace and security infrastructure.
The event was convened by the House of Representatives Committee on Constitution Review, in collaboration with ONSA and other key security agencies.
The discussions focused on exploring constitutional pathways for a more robust, integrated, and citizen-centric security architecture amid growing concerns over terrorism, banditry, and communal violence in various parts of the country.
The presence of high-ranking stakeholders underscored the urgency and importance of the dialogue in reshaping Nigeria’s approach to national security through legislative backing and inter-agency cooperation.
