The meetings, held in his hometown, were marked by strong expressions of solidarity, commendation, and prayers for continued success in his national assignment.

Leading the delegation of former Local Government Speakers was Alhaji Ali Zarada Gagarawa, Chairman of the Forum, who, along with other members who served during Badaru’s second tenure as Governor of Jigawa State, applauded the Minister’s leadership and tireless commitment to securing the country.

“We are proud of the Honourable Minister’s continued service to the nation and his strategic contributions toward strengthening national security. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, played host to two influential delegations over the weekend— the Forum of Immediate Past Local Government Speakers from Jigawa State and the Dutse Emirate Traders Association— in a series of goodwill visits tied to the recently concluded Eid el-Kabeer celebrations.

Joining in the reception were several high-profile figures, including the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State, Alhaji Aminu Sani Gumel; Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Jallo, Member representing Hadejia in the State Assembly; and Hon. Ahmed Rufai, former Chairman of Gumel Local Government. The dignitaries reiterated their backing for the Minister’s initiatives in both security and national development.

In a related engagement on Friday, June 20, 2025, the Dutse Emirate Traders Association also paid a courtesy visit to the Minister at his residence in Kano. The group, led by Alhaji Yahaya Rungumau, used the occasion to commend Badaru for his impactful security interventions that they said have contributed to a stable economic environment conducive for trade and commercial activities across the country.

“Your efforts have created a safer space for us to operate as traders and for the economy to thrive,” Rungumau stated. “This is a great achievement worthy of our appreciation.”

In his response, the Minister of Defence expressed heartfelt appreciation for the visits and the kind sentiments shared by both delegations. He reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring Nigeria’s security and fostering the kind of stability necessary for economic growth and national unity.

“These visits mean a great deal to me,” Badaru noted. “They reaffirm that our collective efforts toward peace and prosperity are not only being noticed but also valued. I remain committed to advancing the security architecture of our great nation.”

The back-to-back visits, coming at the heels of a major religious celebration, underscore the growing support and recognition the Minister enjoys within his home state and beyond, as he continues to play a pivotal role in Nigeria’s defence and security strategy.
