The Ashraaf Islamic Foundation has congratulated Muslims worldwide on the commencement of the Islamic New Year, 1447 AH, calling for peace, unity, and spiritual renewal across nations and within the global Muslim Ummah.
In a statement issued by Malam Abdulrahman Aliagan, Director of Communications and Information for the Foundation, on behalf of its spiritual leader, Imam (Dr.) Sharafudeen Abdulsalam Aliagan, the organization encouraged Muslims to embrace the profound moral and spiritual significance of the Hijrah season.
Highlighting the sacredness of the 1st of Muharram, the Foundation reminded the Ummah that Muharram is one of the four sacred months as ordained by Allah in the Holy Qur’an (Surah At-Tawbah 9:36). The statement urged Muslims to use this period for reflection, repentance, and a renewed commitment to living a life of righteousness and peace.
“This new Islamic year is not just a calendar event,” the Foundation noted. “It is a moment for introspection, spiritual awakening, and recommitting ourselves to the timeless values of faith, patience, sacrifice, and unity that defined the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) historic Hijrah.”
The Ashraaf Islamic Foundation also used the opportunity to advocate for an immediate end to ongoing conflicts and violence in various parts of the world. It particularly appealed for a peaceful resolution to the war between the Republic of Iran and the State of Israel, emphasizing the devastating humanitarian toll the conflict has inflicted on innocent civilians.
“The suffering, displacement, and bloodshed of civilians must stop,” the statement read, while also drawing attention to humanitarian crises in Palestine, Sudan, Yemen, and across the Sahel region. Quoting Qur’an 36:58, the Foundation reassured: “There will be peace!” (Salāmun qawlam min Rabbir-Raḥīm).
Turning to domestic affairs, the Foundation expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s persistent economic, political, and social challenges. It offered fervent prayers for national healing, leadership guided by wisdom and sincerity, and a future anchored in justice and prosperity.
“We pray that Allah showers His mercy upon our nation, grants our leaders divine wisdom and the fear of God, and leads us towards a Promised Land where justice, peace, and security reign,” the statement added.
Underscoring the theme of unity, the Foundation called on Muslims across the world to transcend sectarian and ethnic divisions, reminding them of the Qur’anic command in Surah Al-Anbiya (21:92): “Indeed, this Ummah of yours is one Ummah, and I am your Lord, so worship Me.”
The Foundation also urged Muslims to revive the true spirit of Hijrah by embodying faith, patience, and sacrifice in both personal and communal life. It stressed the need for Muslims to move away from disunity, hatred, and excessive materialism, and instead cultivate mutual love, spiritual growth, and community development.
As the year 1447 AH begins, the Ashraaf Islamic Foundation prayed for global peace, blessings (barakah), and steadfast Iman (faith) for all Muslims, while seeking Allah’s guidance and protection for humanity as a whole.
“Taqabbalallahu minna wa minkum. We wish the entire Muslim Ummah a blessed and peaceful New Hijrah Year – 1447 AH,” the statement concluded.
