AASU President, Karu Youth Leaders Celebrate HRM Joel Aninge at 25th Coronation Anniversary with Surprise Visit

In a heartwarming show of solidarity and admiration, the President of the All-Africa Students’ Union (AASU), His Excellency Osisiogu Osikenyi E., alongside prominent youth leaders from Karu Local Government Area, paid a surprise visit to His Royal Majesty Barr. Dr. Joel Sabo Aninge, MFR, the Odyong Nyankpa and Egbe Nyankpa of the Nyankpa Nation, to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of his ascension to the throne.
The royal jubilee, marking a quarter-century of impactful traditional leadership in the Panda Development Area of Nasarawa State, became even more memorable with the delegation’s gesture of honour — a beautifully crafted plaque presented to the royal father containing a goodwill message from the AASU President.
Speaking during the visit, HE Osisiogu extended warm greetings on behalf of the continental student body, the youth of Nasarawa State, and particularly those from Karu LGA, commending the monarch’s unwavering support for education, youth development, peacebuilding, and cultural preservation.
“As students of history, we have come to find you as an inspiration and a role model,” the AASU President told the royal father. “Your legacy of quality leadership, peaceful coexistence, and visionary development has become a guiding light for young people across Africa.”
His Royal Majesty Barr. Dr. Joel Sabo Aninge, MFR, visibly moved by the show of affection and recognition, expressed deep gratitude to the student leader and his delegation.
He praised the virtues of the Nyankpa people, describing them as resilient and enterprising, noting that it is their determination that has driven the educational and social progress witnessed in the region under his reign.
“I didn’t dream of being a king,” the monarch humbly revealed. “But by the will of God, I sit on this throne today. And I’m grateful to see how far our people have come.”
The monarch, who disclosed that he recently became a “bouncing grandfather” after his son welcomed a baby boy following nine years of marriage, said he felt fulfilled in life. Reflecting on the development trajectory of his chiefdom, he proudly stated that there is hardly any family in Nyankpa without a graduate today. He also highlighted a recent academic milestone, noting that the community experienced a “harvest of PhD holders” in the past year.
HRM Aninge, a veteran journalist and pioneer Clerk of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, said his reign has always been rooted in justice, unity, and progress, guided by the desire to make Nyankpa a model kingdom in Nigeria.
The youth delegation accompanying the AASU President included his Chief of Staff, Morgan Ochekwu; prominent youth leader and Mr Nyankpa, Samson Lusho; Miss Nyankpa Peace and Unity, Queen Rose Ahmadu; Miss Nyankpa National, Queen Lois Samuel Adamu; Comrade Simon Pedro, and others.
The visit ended on a high note with prayers and shared memories, as the monarch reaffirmed his commitment to championing youth-friendly policies, promoting education, and preserving the cultural pride of the Nyankpa Nation.
Even though the celebration of the silver jubilee was deferred to a date to be announced by the traditional leader, it is evident that HRM Barr. Dr. Joel Aninge’s reign has not only brought honour to the Nyankpa throne but continues to serve as a beacon of leadership for generations across Africa.
