The President-General of the Ughelli Descendants Union (UDU), Olorogun Samuel Akpimegi, has made a heartfelt call for greater unity and inclusion of the Ughelli people in the political agenda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State.
Speaking during the Ughelli North APC Unity Meeting hosted by Olorogun Oscar Ibru at Oharisi Model Primary School in Ughelli, Akpimegi passionately appealed to party leaders and stakeholders to carry the Ughelli Kingdom along as the party moves toward the 2027 general elections.
“We beg you, please carry Ughelli people along with you. We are working with you, we are here, and we submit ourselves to you,” he said. “Ughelli has come forward to say, ‘Yes, we are APC.’”
Akpimegi emphasized that the APC must operate as one united front in Ughelli, insisting that the time had come to dispel internal division and focus on common goals.
“There are not two parties in Ughelli. We have one party, and that party is APC,” he declared, urging stakeholders to put aside political rivalries and personal interests for the greater good of the Ughelli people and the party’s success.
In an emotional tone, the UDU leader also pleaded with the APC to remember Ughelli’s contributions and to strengthen the party’s base in the area, which he described as weak and in need of revitalization.
“We beg that you please remember Ughelli Kingdom. The APC is weak today but we need strength. Remember our people,” he said.
Akpimegi also paid homage to elders and leaders present at the event, thanking them for their support and urging everyone to work with one heart and one purpose.
“I want to beg the audience, please let us work with one mind,” he appealed. “I thank all my uncles, my fathers, and all those who are standing for unity. I pray that the Almighty God blesses and protects you from all evil. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
His remarks drew applause from the crowd, highlighting the emotional weight of his plea and the growing desire for reconciliation and cooperation within the Ughelli APC fold.
