In a significant gesture of compassion and social responsibility, the UWA TAGARI CHARITY FOUNDATION has donated food items worth over two million naira to vulnerable individuals and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Katsina State, reinforcing its commitment to alleviating poverty and supporting the underprivileged.
The distribution, which took place across various locations in the state, was part of the foundation’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to support families and children facing difficult living conditions.
Speaking during the presentation of the items, the President of the foundation, Hajiya Fatima Nasir, emphasized that Uwa Tagari was established to offer a helping hand to low-income earners, particularly those grappling with dire social and economic challenges.
She expressed deep concern over the growing number of children left vulnerable due to the loss of their parents and appealed to wealthy individuals and stakeholders to rise to the occasion by supporting such children.
“It is heartbreaking to see children suffering simply because they have lost their parents,” Hajiya Fatima said. “We must come together to ensure they are not left behind. I call on the well-to-do in society to support these innocent souls and help them thrive, despite their painful circumstances.”
In her own remarks, the foundation’s Deputy President, Hajiya Khadija Saulawa, disclosed that the organization has plans to sponsor the education of orphaned children as part of its broader strategy to improve lives through learning. She decried the rising menace of child trafficking, lamenting that it undermines educational development and the long-term wellbeing of young people.
“It is painful to see how children are being trafficked rather than sent to school,” Khadija said. “This is a serious threat to the future of our society. Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, and we must work together to give these children a chance at a better future.”
While commending the Katsina State Government for its efforts to bolster security within the state, Hajiya Khadija also urged the public to show empathy and support for internally displaced persons, acknowledging the immense difficulties they endure daily.
In his contribution, the foundation’s Secretary, Ibrahim Mai Sallah, reaffirmed the group’s dedication to advocating for the rights and welfare of displaced individuals. He offered prayers for their safe return and the restoration of peace to their communities.
“We pray that Allah, in His infinite mercy, delivers all displaced persons from their current hardship and brings them back home safely,” he said.
The outreach received heartfelt appreciation from beneficiaries. Halima Muazu, one of the internally displaced recipients, expressed gratitude to the foundation for its timely and much-needed intervention.
“We are grateful to the Uwa Tagari Foundation for remembering us. These items will go a long way in supporting our families,” she said with emotion.
The foundation concluded the outreach by distributing food and essential items across multiple locations, with a focus on reaching the most vulnerable, including children, widows, and displaced families. The effort is part of a larger initiative to promote social inclusion and uplift the lives of the marginalized in Katsina State.
The UWA TAGARI CHARITY FOUNDATION has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to community service and social development, and pledged to continue championing causes that bring relief and hope to the less fortunate.
