APC Shuts Down Aguata, Donates Bus, All PDP Ward Chairmen Switch Sides

A political tsunami swept through Aguata Local Government Area on Sunday as the entire structure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the ward level collapsed, with all its ward chairmen officially defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The stunning move occurred during the Aguata leg of the APC’s “Thank You Tour,” where a massive crowd gathered to receive the party’s governorship candidate, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, and his running mate, Senator Dr. Uche Ekwunife.

The rally, held at the Central School Field in Ekwulobia, turned into a jubilant celebration of the party’s growing influence. The defection of the PDP ward chairmen was a major highlight, signaling a significant shift in the political landscape of the local government ahead of the governorship election.

The former PDP leaders pledged their total and unalloyed support to the gubernatorial bid of Prince Ukachukwu, promising to mobilize their grassroots networks for an APC victory.

Adding to the electrifying atmosphere, High Chief Engr. JohnBosco Onunkwo, a three-time APC governorship aspirant and Chairman of the Anambra APC Reconciliation Committee, made a powerful statement of unity and support.

He presented a Toyota Hiace Hummer Bus to the Ikukuoma Campaign and vowed to mobilize massive support for the party’s ticket.

This is the team APC will use to rescue Anambra from poverty, insecurity, and bad governance,” Engr. Onunkwo declared to the roaring crowd, urging all party members and the people of Aguata to vote for the APC to install a government with a human face.

Addressing his home crowd, the APC governorship candidate, Prince Ukachukwu, lamented the state of public utilities in the area, describing the commercial city of Ekwulobia as “a city without water.”

He criticized the incumbent government for focusing on media-driven projects instead of life-impacting infrastructure.

“We will run an inclusive government that uplifts the people,” Prince Ukachukwu promised. “We will provide basic amenities like water and electricity, and we will support our local farmers with grants to boost our economy.”

His running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, was lauded by several speakers for her extensive empowerment programs that have benefited many Aguata indigenes, despite not representing the zone in the Senate. Stakeholders expressed confidence that her track record of performance would perfectly complement Ukachukwu’s vision for the state.

The event was attended by the Anambra APC State Working Committee, led by State Chairman Chief Basil Ejidike, reinforcing the message of party unity and structural readiness for the campaign ahead.

As the rally concluded with singing and dancing, chants of “Ikukuoma!” and “Onwa!” filled the air, leaving supporters with a renewed sense of hope and a firm belief that, as one speaker put it, “the wind of glory is blowing through Aguata.”
