A fresh wave of political discontent is sweeping through Southern Taraba as the President of the Arewa Youth Assembly, Ambassador Abdul Garba, has publicly criticized Senator David Jimkuta over what he described as “biased and underwhelming representation” in the National Assembly.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Friday, Ambassador Garba, a native of Southern Taraba, said the Senator’s style of leadership has sparked growing dissatisfaction among constituents—especially the youth who had been instrumental in his electoral victory.

“We can no longer stay silent in the face of what many now see as a disappointing pattern of sentiment-driven, divisive, and exclusionary leadership,” the statement read.

Highlighting the once high expectations residents had for Senator Jimkuta, Garba lamented that the Senator has failed to meet the aspirations of a region yearning for unity, equity, and development. He noted that close aides of the Senator may be shielding him from the reality on ground, thereby widening the gap between the elected official and his constituents.

“The voices of the people, especially the youth who form the backbone of his support base, are being ignored. This is a dangerous path that can only lead to regret—for him and for the people who placed their trust in him,” he warned.

While insisting that the message was not intended as an attack, the Arewa Youth Assembly President described it as a wake-up call for the Senator to retrace his steps and adopt a more inclusive, people-centered approach to governance.

Garba further cautioned other elected representatives at the National Assembly against adopting what he termed a “regrettable style of leadership,” emphasizing that “governance is a sacred trust, not a platform for favoritism or personal politics.”

The statement concluded with a plea for Senator Jimkuta to change course before the opportunity to make a meaningful impact is lost.

This development may signal a turning point in the political landscape of Southern Taraba as calls for accountability grow louder from within the region’s own leadership ranks.
