Governor Ododo Hails Centenarian Monarch, Oba Ikusemoro, on 100th Birthday and 64 Years of Reign

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has paid glowing tribute to His Royal Majesty, Oba Joseph Adebayo Ikusemoro, the Olubunu of Bunu Kingdom, as the revered monarch marked his 100th birthday and 64th year on the throne.
In a grand celebration held in Olle-Bunu, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, the Governor—represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu—described Oba Ikusemoro as “a beacon of wisdom, unity, and progress,” whose reign has brought peace, prosperity, and development to the Bunu Kingdom.
The centenary celebration, which drew dignitaries from across the state, was further graced by Hon. Shehu Seidu Ahmodu, Member representing Ofu State Constituency in the House of Assembly; Hon. Aboh Ibrahim, Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment; and several other notable government officials.
Reading the Governor’s goodwill message, Deputy Governor Salifu extolled the virtues of the Olubunu, noting his enduring dedication to the well-being of his people and his efforts in preserving the cultural heritage of the Bunu Kingdom.
“It is with great honor and privilege that I stand before you today, on behalf of my principal, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo FCA, the Chief Servant of Kogi State, to pay tribute to a man who has dedicated his life to the service of his people,” Salifu said.
“Oba Joseph Adebayo Ikusemoro’s leadership serves as a shining example to all. His commitment to harmony, cultural preservation, and community development continues to inspire us all,” he added.
The Governor also used the occasion to assure the people of Bunu Kingdom of the state government’s unwavering commitment to their security and welfare, reaffirming its dedication to inclusive governance and grassroots development.
The historic celebration not only commemorated the monarch’s centenary birthday but also spotlighted his legacy and immense contributions to the growth and unity of Bunu Kingdom. Oba Ikusemoro’s reign, spanning over six decades, remains one of the longest and most impactful in the region’s history.
