In a significant step toward advancing economic empowerment and financial inclusion in Nigeria, the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) and the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI) have agreed to collaborate on a range of initiatives aimed at reducing poverty and fostering sustainable development.

The announcement was made following a high-level meeting between GEEP’s National Programme Manager, Mr. Hamza Ibrahim Baba, and the Executive Secretary of PreCEFI, Dr. Nuruddeen Abubakar Zauro.

According to a statement signed by Attari M. Hope, the Head of Communication and PR at the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), the engagement focused on aligning efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to improve the livelihoods of Nigerians through citizen-focused empowerment programs.

During the meeting, Mr. Baba gave a comprehensive overview of GEEP 3.0, highlighting its core objectives of supporting micro and small businesses, particularly in the informal sector. He emphasized the program’s role in promoting entrepreneurship, job creation, and inclusive economic growth. Baba reiterated that partnerships such as this are vital to achieving long-term development goals.

“GEEP is designed to provide financial support and empowerment to the grassroots, ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind in the journey toward economic prosperity,” Baba stated.

On his part, Dr. Zauro expressed strong enthusiasm for the collaboration, pointing to shared values and mutual goals between PreCEFI and GEEP. He identified key areas of potential partnership, including digital identity initiatives, co-hosted events, co-designed economic programs, and joint fieldwork aimed at capturing real-time data and deepening grassroots engagement.

“Our technical team is ready to work hand-in-hand with GEEP to deliver measurable outcomes that reflect the aspirations of Nigerians, especially those in underserved communities,” Zauro affirmed.

Both organizations have committed to leveraging their respective strengths to co-create and implement impactful initiatives that will drive economic inclusion and empower millions of Nigerians. The partnership is expected to lay the groundwork for innovative solutions to tackle poverty and foster resilience among small-scale entrepreneurs across the country.

This collaboration marks a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s social investment landscape, reflecting a renewed emphasis on inter-agency synergy to fast-track national development and economic transformation.
