The media office of Mr. Peter Obi, 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, has dismissed as false and misleading two statements circulating online which claim to originate from the former Anambra State Governor.

In a press release issued by the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), the official media platform of Mr. Obi, the office firmly denied authorship of a statement alleging that Obi has ruled out a return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while reaffirming his commitment to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). It also disowned another statement claiming Obi has been offered the role of National Organising Secretary of the ADC.

“These statements did not originate from Mr. Peter Obi or this media office,” POMR Spokesman Ibrahim Umar stated.

The media office emphasized that Mr. Obi remains the subject of persistent speculation within the political space, but reiterated that he is focused on his vision for the emergence of a new Nigeria, and has not made any pronouncements regarding political party affiliations beyond his well-known position.

“Peter Obi has been unequivocal in his position in the ongoing coalition and doesn’t need anyone to put words into his mouth,” the statement read, warning against attempts by individuals or groups to manipulate public opinion by falsely attributing statements to him.

The media office concluded by urging the public to disregard any statement not issued through Obi’s official media channels or verified platforms.
