The Kogi State Government has expressed full support for the upcoming National Youth Safety and Security Summit on the Safety and Security of the Girl-Child and Young Women, following a high-level engagement with the Not Too Young To Perform (NTYTP) Leadership Development Advocacy.
The strategic meeting, held on Friday in Lokoja, brought together the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Anyebe Aridaojo Monday, and the National Secretary of NTYTP, Arc. Bello Muhammed, as part of NTYTP’s ongoing nationwide consultations with stakeholders ahead of the landmark initiative. The dialogue focused on forming a strategic partnership with the Kogi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to address the alarming surge in violent crimes, abductions, and unexplained disappearances affecting young people—particularly young women—across Nigeria.

During the meeting, Hon. Anyebe Aridaojo Monday, renowned for his proactive leadership and dedication to youth advancement, commended NTYTP for initiating the timely intervention. He described the rising insecurity among Nigerian youth as a national emergency requiring coordinated action, emphasizing the need for continuous advocacy, public education, and broad-based stakeholder involvement.
Arc. Bello Muhammed presented a comprehensive overview of the forthcoming summit, themed “Empowering Youth for a Safer Nation: Promoting Security Awareness and Protection for the Girl-Child and Young Women.” He explained that the initiative would roll out in three key phases—a national inaugural summit in Abuja, followed by state-level campaigns across all 36 states and the FCT, and concluding with campus outreach programmes conducted in collaboration with Student Union Governments (SUGs) in tertiary institutions across the country.
Responding to the presentation, the Honourable Commissioner pledged the Ministry’s full cooperation, declaring that initiatives focused on the safety and empowerment of youth align with the core priorities of the Kogi State Government. He further affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to a sustained partnership with NTYTP’s Kogi State Chapter and proposed the formal integration of the chapter into the Ministry’s youth engagement programmes to enhance long-term collaboration.
NTYTP also acknowledged the instrumental role of the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Comrade Itodo Yusuf, who provided critical support in facilitating the meeting. His timely briefing and professional engagement, according to NTYTP, were vital in securing the Commissioner’s availability despite his ongoing tour of the 21 local government areas in the state.
Reiterating its mission, NTYTP restated its dedication to mobilizing national consciousness and forging strategic alliances to promote the safety, protection, and leadership development of young Nigerians—especially girls and young women—as part of building a more inclusive and secure democratic future.
