The 7th Edition of the Nigeria International Agricultural Expo 2025 in Abuja witnessed a groundbreaking display as Autodex Limited unveiled its innovative line of tractors and electric vehicles, signaling a bold step toward sustainable mobility and agricultural mechanization in the country.
Speaking in a chat with our correspondent at the exhibition, Prince Tony Ifeakandu, Managing Director of Autodex Limited and Lead Curator of Farmfatech, said the company’s participation was aimed at showcasing home-assembled tractors and electric vehicles designed to create jobs and reduce dependence on imported finished products.
“We are the first CKD [Completely Knocked Down] tractor assembly plant in Nigeria and also among the first to assemble electric tricycles in the country,” Ifeakandu noted. “By assembling locally at our Abuja facility in Giri, we are creating employment opportunities while providing durable and affordable solutions.”

Highlighting the unique features of Autodex’s electric tricycle, he explained that unlike conventional three-seater combustion engine models, the company’s version is a seven-seater electric vehicle designed to carry more passengers at a fraction of the running cost.
“It’s a game changer. Maintenance is about 80 percent lower than petrol engines. There are no oil or plug changes, and charging is far cheaper than buying fuel daily. The gear system is simply a button—forward and reverse,” he said.
To further ease adoption, Autodex is working with NNPCL filling stations to establish battery swap stations across the country. “If your battery runs down, you just swap it at the station and continue your journey. It’s more efficient and cheaper than petrol,” Ifeakandu added.
On the durability of the company’s tractors, he recalled Autodex’s successful supply of 200 units to Jigawa State in 2017, stressing that none had engine issues to date. “The heart of any tractor is the engine. Our models use tried and tested engines from reputable Chinese partners. They are durable, with generic parts easily available across the country,” he said.
Looking ahead, Autodex is expanding into electric buses, cars, pickups, and other vehicles, while also seeking distributors across all Nigerian states to deepen market reach.
“Right now, we have distributors in Osun, Delta, and Abuja. We are inviting interested partners from other states to join us in driving this transformation,” Ifeakandu announced.
With the unveiling, Autodex Limited positions itself at the forefront of Nigeria’s agricultural and transport revolution, combining local assembly with green technology to tackle rising fuel costs and enhance productivity.
