Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured that justice will be served following the tragic killing of a yet-to-be-identified young woman in Abraka, allegedly shot by security operatives during a pursuit of suspected criminals.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor described the incident as “very unfortunate” and avoidable, stressing that strict adherence to rules of engagement would have prevented the loss of an innocent life.
According to reports, the victim was struck by a bullet during the chase and rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Governor Oborevwori, who commiserated with the bereaved family, urged security agencies to exercise maximum restraint and uphold professionalism in their operations.
He warned that disregard for established operational standards undermines public trust and exposes innocent residents to needless danger.
While assuring residents of Abraka that the state government remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, the governor called for calm as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
