The Deputy National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. (Engr.) Ikenna Adikibe, has urged Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, and compassion as the Muslim faithful across the country celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
In a goodwill message released to mark Eid Maulid, Adikibe, who also serves as the ALGON Chairman in Imo State and Chairman of Oru West Local Government Area, extended warm felicitations to Muslim brothers and sisters nationwide.
“As we mark this joyous occasion, we reflect on the Prophet’s teachings, which emphasize compassion, kindness, and service to humanity. These values are essential in building a harmonious society where everyone feels valued and respected,” he stated.
The ALGON Deputy National President encouraged Nigerians to emulate the Prophet by promoting mutual respect and national development through acts of tolerance and understanding.
Adikibe also commended the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his leadership in fostering interfaith dialogue and inclusiveness in governance. “His Excellency has consistently demonstrated his commitment to building a united and prosperous Imo. We appreciate his unwavering dedication to the well-being of all citizens, regardless of their faith or background,” he noted.
Calling on citizens to use the celebration as an opportunity to renew their commitment to peace and brotherhood, Adikibe prayed for prosperity and progress across the country.
“May the spirit of this occasion inspire us to work together towards a brighter future for all Imolites and Nigerians at large. We pray for peace, prosperity, and happiness for our Muslim brothers and sisters, and for the progress and unity of our great nation,” he added.
