Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, on Sunday held a closed-door meetings with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Ogun State, and later the Olubadan designate, Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, in Ibadan, Oyo State, stressing the urgent need for Nigeria to embrace unity, justice, and progressive leadership.

The visit to Obasanjo and Oba Ladoja comes barely a week after Obi held similar discussions with former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja, a move political observers believe signals renewed consultations on the state of the nation.

Sharing details of the Ibadan meetings on his official social media handle, Obi said he was accompanied by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and Segun Adebanjo.

According to him, “Today, I with Dr. Yunusa Tanko, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Segun Adebanjo visited President Obasanjo on a courtesy visit. Thereafter, we visited the new Olubadan of Ibadan, Kabiyesi Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja.”

The Labour Party chieftain disclosed that the conversations during both visits revolved around the future of Nigeria and the need for unity and justice among the people.

In his words: “In both visits, we were fortunate to discuss the state of our nation and how all of us can live in unity, love, fairness and justice progressively together.”

Obi added that the engagements further reinforced his conviction that the country’s problems could be solved through teamwork and competent leadership. “The meetings make me believe that coming together of a competent team with capacity, compassion, and commitment to build a new Nigeria that is POssible,” he declared.

The string of high-profile meetings has continued to spark interest in political circles, as many Nigerians interpret Obi’s consultations with past leaders and traditional institutions as part of a broader national dialogue.

While neither Obasanjo nor Oba Ladoja has issued an official statement on the discussions, the visits underscore Obi’s ongoing engagement with influential voices across the country as he continues to push for a national rebirth anchored on fairness, justice, and unity.
