The National former ALGON National President Hon Alabi Kolade David has sent his goodwill message to Nigeria at 65. In his message, which read in part:
“Today, we gather to commemorate a significant milestone in Nigeria’s history – 65 years of independence. As we celebrate this achievement, we honour the leaders, heroes, and citizens who have contributed to our nation’s growth and development.
Let me extend my heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his tireless efforts in shaping our nation’s future. His leadership and vision have been instrumental in advancing Nigeria’s interests locally and globally, as seen in the gradual return of the state of the economy and infrastructure development to visible growth, as well as the gradual return of foreign direct investment.
I also commend Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his remarkable service to Lagos State, aligning with President Tinubu’s transformative Renewed Hope Agenda, as seen in the Lagos revolutionary milestones, from infrastructure to urban renewal, technological advancement, Blue Economy, job creation, health and human services, as well as vivid evidence of a true modern city as a Center of Excellence.
Our state and local leaders have played a vital role in driving progress and development in their respective domains, and the feedback has been very commendable across party lines, from Enugu to Imo, Lagos, Zamfara, Abia, Nasarawa, Ogun, Akwa Ibom, to mention but a few. Some local governments are not left out of these developmental strides, indicating passion, transparency, determination to serve, and mutually beneficial relationships between the Governors and the Local Government Chairmen. To these visible Democrats, their dedication to public service, accountability, and commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians are truly commendable. I salute their efforts and acknowledge the challenges they face in serving our great nation.
I cannot at this juncture forget the heroes and founding fathers of Nigeria’s democracy, which has been shaped by courageous individuals who fought for our freedom and rights. I pay tribute to these heroes for painstakingly paving the way for our nation’s progress. Their sacrifices and contributions to our democratic journey will never be forgotten.
The civil societies have been instrumental in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in Nigeria. The judiciary, as a pillar of our democracy, has upheld the rule of law and ensured justice is served from the National Assembly to the Public Court. Their invaluable contributions to our nation’s development are appreciated.
The mass media has played a crucial role in shaping public discourse, holding leaders accountable, and promoting democratic values, fighting fake news and unprofessional ethics. I also commend their efforts in keeping Nigerians informed and engaged on national issues.
Above all, as Nigerians celebrate the resilience, creativity, and diversity, our collective strength lies in its people, who continue to inspire and drive progress despite challenges. Let us all continue to respect and honor each other for the greater good of man and the country.
