The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Nasarawa State, Hon. Aminu Mu’azu Maifata, has joined millions of citizens across the country in celebrating Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, describing the milestone as a momentous occasion for reflection, unity, and renewed commitment to national progress.
In a goodwill message issued in Lafia, Hon. Maifata congratulated Nigerians and praised the visionary leadership of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, noting that the governor has consistently demonstrated an unshakable commitment to the development of Nasarawa State.

According to him, the state has recorded remarkable progress under Sule’s administration, with all 13 Local Government Areas witnessing simultaneous developmental projects and programmes designed to deliver on campaign promises.
The Commissioner highlighted significant strides in infrastructure, healthcare, and access to clean water, stressing that these improvements are a testament to the administration’s dedication to inclusive growth. He pointed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent inauguration of landmark projects in the state, including the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Interchange and the Uthman Dan Fodio Cargo Airport, as well as the successful hosting of the Nasarawa Investment Summit. The summit, he said, attracted over $500 million in investments across critical sectors such as solid minerals and agriculture.
Hon. Maifata further noted that Governor Sule’s emphasis on science, technology, and innovation has set the state on a path of sustainable development. He referenced the establishment of the Nasarawa Technology Village in Karu, designed to foster innovation and digital skills, alongside the training and empowerment of unemployed youths across various technology centers. These initiatives, he said, are deliberate efforts to upscale the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP), while equipping young people with the tools to thrive in a modern economy.
Reflecting on his own tenure as Commissioner, Maifata underscored his commitment to grassroots development, youth empowerment, cultural preservation, and transparent governance. He emphasized that his office has continued to promote accountability in local government administration while creating platforms to nurture young talents and advance Governor Sule’s development agenda.
He credited Governor Sule’s dedication to peace, unity, and excellence with shaping Nasarawa’s development narrative and fostering stronger bonds among its people. “The Governor’s contributions to Nigeria’s growth and his unwavering patriotism serve as a shining example of what can be achieved through dedication, hard work, and a commitment to the well-being of others,” he said.
Hon. Maifata, who previously served as both National President and Deputy National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), reaffirmed his gratitude to Governor Sule for the opportunity to contribute to the state’s transformation.
As Nigerians commemorate 65 years of independence, he called on citizens to remain steadfast in building a united, peaceful, and prosperous nation. “This anniversary is a reminder that our collective efforts will determine the brighter future we all desire for our children and generations to come,” he concluded.
