The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Kebbi State, Hon. Mohammad Dahiru Ambursa, has expressed profound gratitude to Governor Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris for his outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to good governance.
According to Hon. Ambursa, “Governor Idris has demonstrated remarkable acumen and visionary leadership since assuming office on May 29, 2023, and we are thrilled to witness the tangible outcomes of his administration’s efforts.”
Hon. Ambursa highlighted some of the notable achievements of Governor Idris’s administration, including the prompt payment of salaries and benefits. “The Kebbi State Government has confirmed that it is up-to-date with the payment of the new minimum wage and other entitlements, including gratuities and pensions to retirees, as well as death benefits. This is a significant milestone that has brought immense relief to our workers and retirees.” He also noted that the government implemented the new minimum wage of N75,000, which is higher than the N70,000 approved by the Federal Government, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to the welfare of its employees.
The ALGON Chairman further highlighted the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, citing the passage and assent of the N43.29 billion revised 2025 appropriation bill. “This demonstrates the administration’s dedication to prudent fiscal management and good governance,” he said. Hon. Ambursa emphasized that the timely payment of salaries and benefits has had a profoundly positive impact on workers and retirees in Kebbi State.
“The government’s commitment to implementing the new minimum wage and other entitlements demonstrates its unwavering dedication to the welfare of its employees. We are confident that this will improve the overall quality of life for our citizens,”, he added.
The LGAs will continue to partner with the state to stimulate its economic arteries for significant development, upscale the agricultural ecosystem of the state as a key player in the economy, producing major crops like rice, millet, sorghum, onions, and groundnuts.
He pointed out that the state’s 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) drive development across various sectors, including agriculture, fishing, trade, and cultural preservation. Notably, Bagudo LGA is a major rice producer, while Aleiro LGA is renowned for being Nigeria’s largest onion producer. Maiyama LGA is also known for rice production and livestock farming.
He noted that the state government, under Governor Nasir Idris, has been working on improving infrastructure, including road construction and rehabilitation. Additionally, the government has introduced e-government services to enhance accessibility and efficiency. Kebbi state is home to the Argungu Fishing Festival, a UNESCO-recognized event that promotes cultural heritage and economic development.
Other notable projects, according to him, include malaria control initiatives, community-led total sanitation projects, and educational development through institutions like Kebbi State University of Science and Technology (KSUSTA). The state’s strategic location also makes trade a significant economic activity, with opportunities for mining and international trade with neighboring countries.
With the budget in place, Hon. Ambursa looks forward to continued collaboration with Governor Idris to further develop Kebbi State. “We are poised to drive development and growth in the state, and we are confident that the administration’s focus on transparency and accountability will attract investments and improve the lives of our citizens.”
