NIA Kogi State Chapter Set to Mark 2025 World Architecture Day with Focus on Sustainable Housing Development

The Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), Kogi State Chapter, has announced plans to commemorate the 2025 edition of World Architecture Day on Monday, October 6, 2025.
According to a statement signed by the Chapter Chairman, Arc. John Ochune Attah (MNIA), the event will hold at the Conference Hall of the Kogi State Ministry of Transport, Lokoja, located along Marine Road, beginning at 10:30 a.m. prompt.
This year’s commemoration carries the theme “Design for Strength” with a sub-theme “A Catalyst for Sustainable Housing Development in Lokoja, Kogi State.”
The programme is expected to attract architects, urban planners, government officials, and other built environment professionals to deliberate on strategies for strengthening architectural design as a driver of sustainable development.
The event will feature seminars, site tours, cultural dance performances, and syndicate sessions, providing participants with opportunities for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and cultural appreciation.
The Guest of Honour, Hon. Taiye Abanikah, Kogi State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, will lead other dignitaries to the event. The list of distinguished guest speakers includes Arc. Dr. Muhammed A. (MNIA), Arc. Dr. Jubril A. Olanusi (MNIA), and Tpl. Joy Oyiza Obadoba (PhD Researcher).
The statement urged professionals, students, and stakeholders in the built environment to attend the event and contribute to the discussions on strengthening design practices for sustainable housing and urban growth in Kogi State.
