In what appears to be a major boost to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, the Ughelli South Political Colonels — a formidable and influential pressure group within the party — have reaffirmed their total loyalty to the APC and pledged to deliver a resounding victory in the 2027 general elections.
The group made this declaration during a courtesy visit to the Delta State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, at the party’s state secretariat in Asaba on Wednesday.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the group, Olorogun John Evwenode, said the visit was to demonstrate the group’s readiness to work in harmony with the state leadership in advancing party unity and grassroots mobilization.
“We are here to assure you of our unwavering loyalty and to reaffirm our commitment to delivering Ughelli South 100 percent for the APC come 2027,” Evwenode said. “Our goal is to mobilize effectively at the grassroots and strengthen the party’s structures for total victory.”
Responding, Elder Omeni Sobotie commended the Ughelli South Political Colonels for their steadfastness and renewed energy, describing their visit as a reflection of the strengthening unity and internal cohesion within the APC.
He called on all members of the party across Delta State to close ranks, avoid divisions, and embrace inclusiveness as the countdown to 2027 begins.
“No man prevails by the number of enemies he has; men prevail by the number of friends they are able to make,” Sobotie remarked. “The APC’s success in 2027 — both at the state and federal levels — will depend on how united and inclusive we are as a family.”
Sobotie dismissed any notions of disparity between old and new party members, affirming that every member of the APC enjoys equal rights and privileges.
“In the APC of today, there are no old or new members. Everyone is equal, and all rights remain valid and accessible,” he emphasized.
The Delta APC chairman further described the party as divinely favored, insisting that the opposition in the state has become weak and disorganized.
“Any attempt to challenge the APC in 2027,” he warned, “will be like running into a brick wall. Government is like an elephant — too big for one man to slaughter and feed upon. We have two governments at our disposal: one in Abuja under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and another here in Asaba under our able governor. That gives us every reason to stay united and work harder.”
Sobotie lauded the Ughelli South Political Colonels for their grassroots mobilization efforts and unwavering commitment to the APC’s success, expressing confidence that their dedication will help consolidate the party’s growing influence ahead of the next polls.
“I am impressed with your zeal and organization,” he said. “Keep up the good work, and may you rise from being Colonels to Generals in your political journey.”
The meeting ended on a note of optimism, with both the state leadership and the Ughelli South Political Colonels pledging to sustain cooperation, expand membership, and strengthen the APC’s political structures across Delta State.
Political observers described the visit as one of the most strategic alignments within the Delta APC in recent months — a clear signal that the Ughelli South Political Colonels are emerging as a major mobilization force as the 2027 general elections draw nearer.
