The National Merit House in Maitama, Abuja, is set to host one of Nigeria’s most anticipated civic events of the year — A Nite 4 Naija 2025, powered by Project Victory Call Initiative (PVC-Naija). Scheduled for Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 3:00 PM, the event will celebrate leadership, patriotism, and excellence under the inspiring theme Engagement, Recognition, and Awards.

But beyond the glitz of the Green Carpet, A Nite 4 Naija represents something far deeper — a national movement to restore merit, accountability, and citizen-driven recognition in public life. It is a platform where Nigerians, not politicians, decide who truly deserves to be called an icon of leadership and service.

PVC-Naija, the organisation behind the initiative, is a civic advocacy platform dedicated to reawakening Nigeria’s democratic spirit through value-driven engagement with citizens. Described as a movement to “rethink Nigeria, reinvent politics, remodel leadership, and redefine governance,” the organisation believes that nation-building must go beyond politics of division and entitlement. Its mission is to enlighten and empower Nigerians to take ownership of their civic and political responsibilities, ensuring that credible leaders emerge for accountable governance.

In a statement by the organisers, PVC-Naija said A Nite 4 Naija is more than an award ceremony — it is “a movement of engagement where citizens and leaders meet at the intersection of accountability and hope.” The initiative aims to celebrate those who have demonstrated integrity, innovation, and patriotic service in shaping Nigeria’s democratic growth, governance, and community impact.

The 2025 edition will feature 18 award categories covering all six geo-political zones, ensuring no region is left unrepresented. The categories range from Political Icon of the Year and Governor of the Year (SEA Index), to Iconic Advocacy Voice of the Year and Lifetime Honour for Elder Statesmen. Each award seeks to recognize individuals whose work reflects the spirit of responsibility, service, and excellence that the platform promotes.

Among the nominees for Political Icon of the Year are Governors Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, Alex Otti of Abia, Bassey Otu of Cross River, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Usman Ododo of Kogi, and Nasir Idris of Kebbi. For the Iconic Advocacy Voice of the Year, civic champions such as Aisha Yesufu, Mr Macaroni, Falz, and Prophet Isa El-Buba lead the pack of nominees. Other categories honour lawmakers, ministers, creative artists, and elder statesmen whose lives and contributions have shaped the nation’s story.

The nomination process, chaired by public intellectual Simon Imobo-Tswam with journalist Ifeoma Nkem as Secretary, was guided by the Independent Media Governance Assessment Reports spanning May 2024 to May 2025. Submissions were received between June and July, screened in August and September, and the initial list of nominees was released on October 1. Public voting will open on November 1 and close on November 30, allowing Nigerians at home and abroad to participate in choosing their preferred honourees. Details of the nominees and voting guidelines are available on the official website, www.pvc-naija.com.ng, while inquiries can be directed to info@pvc-naija.com.ng.

Chairman of the Organising Committee, Ademola Adunola, described the event as “a civic reawakening that challenges every Nigerian to demand accountability and celebrate those who serve with purpose.” The Project Manager, Amanda Nwachukwu, said A Nite 4 Naija was conceived to “restore credibility to national honours in an era where many awards have been commercialized.” For Paula Bellgam, President of PVC-Naija, the event represents “a rebirth of value-based recognition in Nigeria — where excellence is earned, not bought.”

The organizers insist that A Nite 4 Naija matters because it restores credibility to the culture of recognition, promotes accountability, unites Nigerians across regions, and drives active citizen engagement. “We are building a future where Nigerians can confidently celebrate their heroes — leaders, advocates, and creatives — who embody the Nigeria of our dreams,” the statement added.

Set against the backdrop of growing citizen demand for credible governance, A Nite 4 Naija 2025 will also feature a special impact assessment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration (2023–2025), evaluated both as Commander-in-Chief and as CEO of the Nigerian enterprise.

The night promises to blend honour with introspection — not just celebrating achievements but also inspiring reflection on what leadership truly means in a country yearning for progress. It is a reminder that every citizen holds the power to redefine governance through engagement, recognition, and collective action.

As the date approaches, anticipation continues to build for what many are already calling Nigeria’s night of civic rebirth. In the words of the organisers, A Nite 4 Naija “calls on Nigerians everywhere to engage, recognize, celebrate, and build Nigeria.”

Because this time, the people — not the politicians — will decide who truly leads, serves, and inspires the nation.
