Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a robust and business-friendly economy as he officially commissioned the new Lokoja branch of Premium Trust Bank on Saturday.
The opening of the bank’s latest branch marks a strategic milestone for Kogi State’s financial and economic landscape, promising to expand access to banking services, stimulate entrepreneurship, and deepen financial inclusion across the state.
Addressing dignitaries and stakeholders at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Ododo applauded Premium Trust Bank for its confidence in the state’s growing economy and for recognizing Kogi as a viable hub for sustainable investment. He emphasized that his administration is determined to provide the right policies and infrastructure to attract more investors and financial institutions.
“Our administration is ready and willing to partner with Premium Trust Bank and other forward-looking institutions to accelerate development,” the governor declared. “We are opening up industrial parks, revitalizing farm settlements, and supporting agro-processing clusters. These initiatives require strong financial backing, and banks like Premium Trust can play a pivotal role in empowering small and medium enterprises with the capital and expertise they need to thrive.”
Governor Ododo also urged other banks and financial institutions to emulate Premium Trust Bank’s initiative by investing in the state and supporting its industrialization and agricultural transformation agenda. He noted that when banks empower society through business financing and community development, they ultimately secure their own growth and stability.
The governor further extended his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating a conducive national environment for financial institutions to operate and prosper. “Let me also appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his radical, timely, and people-focused reforms in the financial sector,” Ododo said. “His policies have strengthened our banks, boosted depositor confidence, and opened new opportunities for growth. The banking industry remains one of the greatest beneficiaries of these reforms, and I urge all players to leverage this renewed strength to support both national and subnational development.”

In his remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Premium Trust Bank, Dr. Emmanuel Efe Emefie, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to aligning with the Kogi State Government’s economic vision. He noted that the establishment of the Lokoja branch underscores the bank’s belief in Kogi’s strategic importance as an emerging commercial hub and pledged that Premium Trust would continue to deliver innovative financial solutions tailored to the needs of businesses and individuals in the state.
With the commissioning of the new branch, stakeholders believe Kogi State is on a path toward accelerated economic expansion, job creation, and enhanced financial inclusion — signaling a dynamic partnership between the public and private sectors in driving the state’s prosperity.
