I have been away from the Country since the middle of August when my health made a very bold call for urgent and immediate attention. Whilst here in the United States I have made very strident interventions for the good of Country even at the detriment of my health. Quite a lot of friends have called to ‘command’ me to rest and concentrate on my medicals, but alas the ‘love for Country’ will always have its way.
I wrote close to five pungent interventions on the State of the nation and granted several Television and Radio interviews through virtual mediums until the 12th day of September (exactly one month after I arrived in the US) when I was clearly instructed by the Almighty to halt/cease, and to directly engage with revolutionary cadres and interests at home instead.
That has been my preoccupation since then, however this new routine has been truncated only twice, first on the 1st day of October (when I granted 2 virtual interviews, and also Spoke at a Diaspora Platform marking 65 years of the Independence of our Dear Nigeria), and the second on the 26th of October, 2025. This present intervention is not only divinely occasioned BUT cosmically imperative. Kid with it at your own peril.
The last article I wrote on the 6th of September was a forewarning about the times and the things very likely to happen, and I have chosen to repeat a part of it here, perhaps just the caption and the first paragraph of that writeup will help my readers to get the drift perfectly. And maybe the true friends of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if he has any, would rise up, speak up, and by love protect him against the slide to the abyss. But what do I know, I’m only writing/speaking as one led by the Spirit. Don’t ask me which spirit because I am not being ecclesiastical or religious here, I am not being partisan either, I am writing as one instructed by an Excellent Spirit for the good of Country.
Dateline 6th of September, 2025. I wrote the Article titled “Mayday! Mayday! A Call To Unite Against The Execution Of Democracy By Tinubu And His ‘Gunmen’ I.” And I gave the same Article the following subtitles…
‘..Democracy Dies Where The Freedoms Enshrined In The Constitution Are Stifled And Strangled.’
‘..Tinubu With His Incessant Overseas Trips Like Nero Fiddles While Rome Burns.’
‘..And Refusing The Opposition The Space To Organize Is Akin To Tying Democracy To The Shooting Range.’
I opened that piece with this very instructive paragraph… “I was forced by the troubling developments at home over 10,712 Kilometres from my present location, to suspend the series captioned ‘2027: Between Politics, Ambition And Country First’ for this Mayday Call. We can talk about 2027 only when democracy survives the present madness at home.”
Like a clairvoyant I warned that President Tinubu and his Team were posing great danger to our hard-earned democracy, and that the danger is apparently existential, ongoing and ominous, but his Court-jesters and sycophants will continue to urge, nudge and goad him on, unfortunately on the path to Golgotha. I pray that President Tinubu heeds this call to reason and to caution.
With the news about a foiled coup or better put a Coup in the mill, and the veiled denial by the Defence Headquarters, as well as the news making the rounds about high profile persons in the Military and some civilians who have been arrested and are being interrogated, I worry for our democracy. And have you observed the deafening pro military putch silence in the national space, it is indeed worrisome.
With the Sahel States, Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso making military rule attractive ditto pulling their nations out of the brink, and redefining leadership as service to the people, Nigeria must sit up, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must govern exemplarily, because a thousand sycophants and a one million-man choir singing ‘ON YOUR MANDATE WE SHALL STAND’ cannot save him, only good governance can.
With insecurity and corruption rife and tearing the nation apart, courtjesting will do no more than deepen distrust, and water the flames of anger, pain, pangst and angst. Beware the Ides of March, Mr President.
With Terrorists and Bandits openly sitting at the table of dialogue wielding illegal weapons whereas Activists, Civil Society Advocates and those calling for Self-determination (a legal right) are detained, harassed and harangued. I worry for Nigeria.
With the Government’s predilection to taxing the people and increasing the weight of poverty. With bogus statistics about the economy improving whereas the people are getting poorer. With kidnap for ransom becoming the new boom after official corruption and larceny. With propaganda rather than performance as the kick of the present government. The times are indeed ominous.
With the United States declaring Nigeria a COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN because rather than attend the issues of insecurity in Nigeria the ‘liars of government’ and the ‘liars for government’ have chosen falsehood, machinated and manipulated optics and perfidy over the need for government to take proactive steps to contain insecurity, the times are indeed getting curiouser and curiouser. Should the defense be that Christians and Muslims alike are being killed? Shouldn’t it be about taking profound, profuse and proficient steps to stop the dishing of human barbecues by non-state actors across the nation, shouldn’t it be about the primacy of lives and property, shouldn’t it be about ‘All Lives Matter’, and why is this government captive of delusional propaganda and debauchery?
I am not concerned about the politics of 2027, I’m presently concerned about the survival of democracy, and about peace in Nigeria. To the raging partisans who believe that Tinubu is doing well, and can die for him even when he has severally admitted that it is yet very far from uhuru, I wish you well. And to those whose present preoccupation is finding a credible alternative to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I wish you well. However, this effort is targeted at invoking a pan and a pro Nigerian Spirit to challenge for the soul of our Dear Country, Nigeria MUST be great again.
I have since suspended the series ‘2027: Between Politics, Ambition And Country First’ and will not return to it until God instructs otherwise. In the interim I must like the Prophets of old call the present watch to beware because the times and the tides are ominous. And to my Countrymen and women we MUST rise up to defend democracy because ‘Democracy Dies Where The Freedoms Enshrined In The Constitution Are Stifled And Strangled’.
Countrymen and women, Political Operators and Public Office Holders, Activists and Cashtivists, Sycophants, Partisans and Patriots, Religionists and Realists alike, before the raging crisis comes upon us, I must caution that hunger, pain, despondency, frustration and anger are indiscriminate of ethnicity, indiscriminate of political parties and associations, indiscriminate of religion and region, indiscriminate of creed and clan, indiscriminate of whether you are a BATIST, OBIDIENT, ATIKULATE or what have you, and indiscriminate of what political interests you nurse, so we MUST elect to protect our Country and defend our democracy MUCH more than ones love for any individual, for when it comes our prejudices and biases will offer us no hiding place. I truly hope someone out there is listening.
And before the fervency of the global Gen Z frustration, pressure and anger comes upon us ala Nepal, Morocco, Madagascar, France, Kenya, Tanzania, and as presently cooking in Cameroon, Nigeria, and other places sprout into wild fire, may our Dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rise to the urgency of now by making democracy count. May President Bola Tinubu wake to the challenge of making his watch responsible and responsive to the people. And may the Nigerian People congregate at the parlor where every parlous steps of leadership is condemned and lampooned by all, and may the good be hailed by all. But what really do I know, I just want a Country that works for all.
May God Bless Nigeria.
