In what political observers are already describing as a defining moment in Anambra’s 2025 governorship race, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), His Excellency Peter Obi, on Sunday affirmed his full support for the Labour Party candidate, George Moghalu, saying “A man is known by his words and actions — that is what is called integrity.”

Despite stating that this is not his own election, Obi maintained that he is standing with the LP candidate based on conscience and conviction.

“I will support my Party Candidate, George Moghalu, despite not being my election — but my conscience says so,” Obi said.

According to Obi, the final decision ultimately lies with the people of Anambra State — the electorate whose votes will determine the direction of the state.

“The decision of who becomes the next Governor of the state lies solely on the shoulders of Ndi Anambra,” he added.

Obi Walks in the Rain for Moghalu

In a symbolic act that captured national attention, Peter Obi defied heavy rainfall and poor road conditions in parts of the state to embark on a street walk in solidarity with George Moghalu.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of excited residents cheering from sidewalks and shop fronts, as Obi and Labour Party supporters trudged through water-logged streets, chanting solidarity messages.

Members of the fast-growing Obidient Movement — the grassroots citizens’ support structure linked to Obi — were also on ground, declaring that their loyalty and commitment remain unwavering.

“The Obidients are there to give their unalloyed support for this noble cause,” one supporter said.

“It Is Your Choice — Vote Wisely,” Obi Tells Ndi Anambra

As the campaign momentum heats up, Obi called on Ndi Anambra to exercise their civic rights responsibly — to vote their conscience and put character above financial inducement.

“On a final call to Ndi Anambra — it is your democratic right and decision to exercise your civic responsibility in electing your Governor… Vote wisely!”

With the LP base energized, many political analysts believe the entry of Obi — widely seen as one of the most influential political figures in the Southeast — may significantly shift the voting calculus as Election Day draws closer.

A New Nigeria is Possible — Obi Re-Echoes

Closing his message, Obi repeated the mantra that has become the rallying call of his political philosophy across the country:
“A New Nigeria is Possible.”

Across Anambra, anticipation is rising. The campaign ground is shifting. And now, with Obi visibly back in active field engagement — the Labour Party candidate George Moghalu enters the home stretch with renewed momentum and the backing of one of the most formidable political forces in the state.
