The Executive Chairman of Mani Local Government, Dr. Yunusa Muhammad Sani Bagiwa, has restated his unwavering commitment to advancing community development and improving the welfare of residents across the Local Government Area.
Dr. Yunusa highlighted that his administration has intensified efforts to upgrade healthcare delivery in alignment with the vision of Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Umar Radda, to strengthen the state’s health sector. He disclosed that eight health facilities across the 11 wards have already been renovated, while qualified medical doctors and other essential health personnel have been recruited to enhance service delivery.
He noted that modern hospital equipment—including mattresses, beds, essential drugs, and other medical supplies—have been procured. Plans are also underway to establish a pharmaceutical dispensing unit in Mani to ensure residents can access quality medications at affordable prices. In addition, a standard laboratory unit has been set up to support timely diagnosis of malaria, typhoid, and other ailments.
Dr. Yunusa further revealed that a new hospital has been constructed near the Local Government Secretariat, accompanied by the recruitment of additional health workers to ensure efficient operation of the facility.
On education, the Chairman announced the successful renovation of Durbi Primary School in Kusheyi, alongside the provision of vital learning materials. The school, which once held classes under trees due to dilapidated structures, is now functioning effectively. He added that construction work at Gabi Primary School is progressing steadily.
In the agricultural sector, Dr. Yunusa reported that the Local Government has supported farmers with fertilizers, water-pump machines, quality pesticides, improved seeds, ten tractors, and over 120 power tillers—initiatives aimed at boosting food production and alleviating economic hardship.
He also disclosed that the council recently sponsored eye surgeries for 200 patients, providing beneficiaries with free eyeglasses and medications. Arrangements have been finalized for an additional 150 patients to receive similar treatment through a partnership with expert eye surgeons. Moreover, the Local Government is offering free weekly hernia surgeries for about 20 patients.
Dr. Yunusa added that several mosques, boreholes, and hand-pump water systems have been rehabilitated across the 11 wards to improve access to clean water and enhance worship facilities.
The Chairman reaffirmed that his administration remains dedicated to delivering impactful projects that uplift the lives of the people of Mani Local Government.
