….As Obidient Movement Coordinator Stresses Unity and Calls for Cutting Off Insecurity’s Supply Line
Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, delivered a compelling defense of Mr Peter Obi’s political project during a recent interview at the European Parliament TV Station, declaring that the former presidential candidate stands as the ultimate “unifier” for the deeply polarized nation.
Speaking passionately about the vision of the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the country, Dr. Tanko asserted that his Obi’s primary objective is to protect the interests of every citizen, regardless of religious or ethnic affiliation.
”As the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement worldwide, I see Peter Obi as a unifier,” Dr. Tanko stated. “Every position he takes with concerns about Nigeria, he stands in the interest of protecting everybody. Whether you are a Muslim or you are a Christian, as long as you are a Nigerian, Peter Obi wants to protect your interest.”
He emphasized that this broad, inclusive vision is what drives support across geographical divides, confirming its appeal among citizens in the northern part of the country.
”That is making it easier for us as Northerners, as Nigerians, to believe in the candidature of Mr. Peter Obi.
He represents the unification that Nigerians are looking for. He never deviates from the interest whether you are a Northerner or you are a Southerner. And that is what we need in Nigeria: a pious leader who can change the narrative of our country.”
Security Crisis: A ‘Genocide Against Nigeria’
The conversation quickly pivoted to Nigeria’s worsening security crisis, which has recently drawn international attention, including comments from the United States, especially President Donald Trump, regarding the killing of Christians.
Dr. Tanko responded to the crisis by describing it as a “genocide against Nigeria generally,” and outlined a practical, hardline approach the movement believes is necessary to restore peace: cutting the supply of weapons.
”Guns are been procured, bullets and pouches are been sent. Northerners or Southerners in Nigeria don’t produce guns. Somebody must be importing them,” he noted, logically concluding: “So anybody who wants to help Nigeria, should cut the supply, and Nigeria will be at peace.”
He stressed that Peter Obi’s philosophy in addressing the violence is one of absolute protection for all citizens, irrespective of their faith.
”A person like Peter Obi is saying that everybody is concerned, let’s stop the killing,” Dr. Tanko affirmed.
“Every life matters, irrespective of a Muslim or a Christian. But the most important thing, every life matters and it must stop now, and that is what he’s promoting.”
