Hon. Engr. Kayode Adegbayo, Special Assistant to the National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), has extended warm Yuletide greetings to the Christian community across the country, describing Christmas as a season of profound faith, love, and national togetherness.
In a goodwill message issued in the spirit of the season, Hon. Adegbayo reflected on what he described as the “Christmas excitement that now occupy the socio-religious landscape of our nation with joy and hope,” as he sent “a heartfelt message of goodwill to millions of Christians celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.”
Acknowledging the deep spiritual meaning of Christmas, the ALGON aide said the season remains a defining moment when values that bind the nation together come to the fore. According to him, it is “a time when faith, love, and togetherness shine brightest across Nigeria’s diverse communities.”
Hon. Adegbayo paid glowing tribute to the Christian faithful, noting that their presence and contributions add immeasurable value to the nation. He stated that “the Christian faithful bring a radiant glow to the nation’s cultural and spiritual tapestry,” stressing that their “devotion, prayers, and commitment to harmony embody the very essence of Christmas—where peace, generosity, and unity triumph over division.”
He further celebrated the diversity that characterises the country, especially during the Christmas season, noting that Nigeria’s plural nature remains a source of strength. “In this season of carols and candlelight,” he said, “he celebrates the pluralism that enriches Nigeria, where every denomination and tradition joins hands in pursuit of shared prosperity.”
Describing Hon. Adegbayo as “a seasoned consultant and programme specialist from Kogi State,” the statement highlighted his commendation of the Christian community’s resilience and compassion, particularly in critical sectors of national life. He likened their contributions in “education, healthcare, and social outreach to the guiding star that strengthens the nation’s social fabric.”
Looking ahead, Hon. Adegbayo expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, tying the enduring spirit of Christmas to upcoming national milestones. He said he was confident “that this same spirit of service and unity will continue to light Nigeria’s path as the country prepares for the milestones of 2026 and the elections of 2027.”
The ALGON aide also offered prayers and goodwill wishes to Nigerians across all sectors, expressing hope that the season would bring renewed blessings to the nation. With what the statement described as “joyful optimism,” he prayed “that the blessings of Christmas—hope, peace, and divine grace—fill every home and heart.”
Beyond the Christian community, he extended “warm wishes for a prosperous 2026 to the ALGON family, the Federal and State Governments, the Judiciary, the Mass Media, Civil Society, Trade Unions, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Women, Youths, Children, and all citizens of goodwill.”
Hon. Adegbayo concluded his message with a poetic and unifying prayer for the country, declaring: “May the bells of Christmas ring out harmony, may the lights of the season brighten our future, and may every Nigerian step into the New Year with renewed faith and abundant blessings.”
