Christmas: ALGON Chairman Ihunda Extends Season’s Greetings, Reaffirms Commitment to Unity, Service in Rivers

Hon. Sir Allwell Ihunda, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Rivers State, and Executive Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (PHALGA), has extended warm Christmas greetings to the Government and people of Rivers State, describing the season as a time of hope, renewal, and collective responsibility.

In his Christmas message, Hon. Ihunda reflected on the spiritual significance of the season, stating that, “in the hush of this holy night, when starlight whispers the promise of hope, I am compelled to speak from the depths of a grateful heart.”

He described Christmas as a season whose “miracle… ignites a fire within us—a fire that can melt the hardest of challenges and illuminate the path to a brighter Rivers State.”

The ALGON Chairman formally conveyed goodwill to key stakeholders across the state, saying, “to His Excellency Governor Similayi Fubara, the State Executive Council, the Judiciary, the Mass Media, Civil Society, women, youths and every cherished citizen of Rivers State, I on behalf of the Local Government Council Chairmen, heartily extend our warmest Christmas greetings.”

He commended their commitment to governance and development, adding that, “your unwavering dedication and spirited leadership with tangible realities of progress, and together we will continue to do our best on our part.”

Speaking in his dual capacity as ALGON Chairman and Executive Chairman of PHALGA, Hon. Ihunda emphasized the importance of collaboration in governance and community development.

According to him, “it will be fair to say that building resilient communities, delivering essential services, and nurturing the unity that defines our great state is a function of teamwork and team-spirit of which we shall bring to bear.”

He further invoked prayers and goodwill for families and communities across the state, expressing hope that, “the radiant light of the Nativity fill your homes with peace, your hearts with love, and our beloved Rivers with lasting prosperity.”

He called on citizens and leaders alike to recommit themselves to collective service, urging, “let us reaffirm our pledge to work hand-in-hand for the welfare of every Rivers citizen, ensuring that the blessings of this season echo throughout the years to come.”

Hon. Ihunda concluded his message by wishing the people of Rivers State a joyful celebration and a prosperous year ahead, saying, “wishing you a joyous Christmas and a New Year blessed with health, harmony and progress.”
