In a heartfelt Christmas goodwill message that echoed across Nigeria’s diverse religious and cultural landscape, the National Publicity Secretary of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Hamisu Anani, has warmly saluted Christian faithful across the country as they celebrate the Yuletide season.

Hon. Anani, who also serves as the Executive Chairman of Wase Local Government Area and the ALGON Chairman for Plateau State, described the Christmas season as a profoundly significant period for millions of Nigerian Christians, whose faith and devotion, he said, continue to enrich the nation’s spiritual and cultural life.

In his message, he acknowledged the “profound significance of this period for the millions of believers who constitute a substantial segment of Nigeria’s populace,” stressing that the Yuletide season offers a powerful reminder of shared values of love, sacrifice, peace, and hope.

He noted that the Christian community brings a “unique vibrancy” to Nigeria’s national life through “steadfast devotion, fervent prayers, and unwavering commitment to communal harmony.”

According to Hon. Anani, these enduring virtues exemplify the strength of Nigeria’s plural society, which he described as “a rich heterogeneity that characterises Nigeria’s religious mosaic, where myriad denominations and traditions coalesce in a shared pursuit of peace and prosperity.”

The ALGON National Publicity Secretary further praised the resilience, compassion, and selfless service of Christians across the country, particularly their historic and ongoing contributions to national development. He observed that the Christian community’s roles in education, healthcare delivery, and social outreach have consistently strengthened Nigeria’s social foundation.

He stated that “their collective efforts in education, health, and social outreach have fortified the nation’s social fabric and inspired countless acts of goodwill,” adding that these contributions remain invaluable to the country’s unity and progress.

Expressing confidence in the future, Hon. Anani said he believes that the same spirit of unity, sacrifice, and service that defines the Christian faith will continue to propel Nigeria forward.

He linked this optimism to the nation’s journey toward key milestones ahead, noting the importance of sustaining hope and cooperation as the country looks toward “the pivotal elections in 2027 and developmental milestones of 2026.”

In a prayerful tone, he wished that “the blessings of this joyous season illuminate every heart, foster greater understanding among all faiths, and usher in a year replete with progress, stability, and divine grace for every Nigerian.”

Hon. Hamisu Anani concluded the message by extending Christmas and New Year goodwill beyond the Christian community, speaking “on behalf of the LGA Chairmen in Plateau, the 36 states and the FCT.”

He conveyed warm wishes to Plateau State Governor, His Excellency Caleb Mftuang, members of the State Executive Council, the Judiciary, the mass media, civil society groups, the informal sector, trade unions, ministries, departments and agencies, as well as women, youths, and “all Christians, and indeed all citizens of goodwill.”

He wished them all “a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year filled with hope, peace, and abundant blessings,” reinforcing a message of unity, mutual respect, and shared national destiny at a season traditionally associated with goodwill to all.
