Southern Atlantic University, which is approved by the Federal Ministry of Education through the National Universities Commission (NUC), described the appointment as part of its broader commitment to strong institutional governance and academic excellence as it continues to consolidate its standing within Nigeria’s higher education sector.

Dr. Ugo Magnus Kel joins the Governing Council with a solid academic and professional background that combines scholarship, administration, and strategic development in higher education. He holds advanced qualifications up to a PhD in Information and Communication Technology, equipping him with a research-oriented and contemporary understanding of modern education systems.

His professional career includes service in senior university management positions such as Registrar of a university and Director of Strategic Development in a higher education institution. Through these roles, Dr. Kel has been actively engaged in academic governance, policy execution, quality assurance, curriculum development, and institutional expansion, areas that are central to the responsibilities of a university governing council.
