The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially released the timetable for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course, outlining key dates and operational guidelines for prospective corps members across the country.
In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the Scheme confirmed that the three-week orientation exercise will be conducted simultaneously in all 36 states of the federation as well as the Federal Capital Territory, underscoring its nationwide scope and logistical coordination.
According to the schedule, the orientation programme will commence with the reception and registration of prospective corps members on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The registration process is expected to conclude at midnight on Friday, April 24, 2026, paving the way for the formal induction of participants into national service.
The swearing-in ceremony, a statutory component of the orientation programme, will also take place on Friday, April 24, 2026. The event formally marks the beginning of the service year for the newly mobilized graduates, who will be deployed to various sectors of national development upon completion of the orientation exercise.
The NYSC management further disclosed that the orientation course will run for 21 days, culminating on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. During this period, corps members will undergo paramilitary drills, leadership training, citizenship education, and other activities designed to foster national unity, discipline, and self-reliance.
Reaffirming its commitment to the safety and welfare of participants, the Scheme advised all prospective corps members to prioritize secure travel arrangements as they proceed to their respective orientation camps. The management reiterated its longstanding warning against night travel, citing security concerns across various routes.
Prospective corps members were specifically urged to halt their journeys once it is 6:00 p.m. and seek safe accommodation at designated locations such as NYSC lodges, military formations, police stations or outposts, as well as the palaces of traditional rulers where available. They are expected to resume their journeys the following morning under safer conditions.
The NYSC also extended its goodwill to all mobilized graduates, wishing them safe travels and a productive orientation experience as they prepare to undertake the one-year mandatory national service.
The announcement signals the commencement of another cycle in the NYSC calendar, a programme widely regarded as a critical instrument for promoting national integration and youth development in Nigeria.
