2015, the turning point in Nigeria’s political followership

We have become so used to bad governance that we see roads, electricity and other cosmetic development as signs that ‘governor XYZ is trying’ as if they used their personal money to do the project. We name people Mr. project, Talk and Do, the Bridge Builder, and other ridiculous aliases. All these are signs of a decaying or a nonexistent political education.

The Sustainable Development Goals and AYGF Thematic Areas; Achieving A Better Society for All

Delivering results in a project is the exclusion of relevant stakeholders in the planning process. If that is minimized, there would be less incidences of misplaced projects. For instance, AYGF’s major strategy is to conduct a need assessment in the prospective location of a project. The relevant questions are asked through a direct communication with the prospective beneficiaries on what their scale of preference is. The result of this method gives a tailor-made solution to the needs of the people.

SDG Goal 3: X-raying the Extent of Nigeria’s Compliance

The current health statistics in Nigeria do not look good at all. It can be said that all is not well with the health sector in the country. This is due to the fast and alarming deteriorating capacity of the health system, with an estimated infant mortality rate at 69/1000 live births; under-five mortality rate at 109/1000 live births; maternal mortality ratio at 814/100 000 live births; average life expectancy for men and women at 53 and 56 years, respectively; and relative probability of dying between 15 and 60 years estimated at 341 per 1000 population.

The Scourge of Malaria in Nigeria And AYGF Perspective

In 2020 alone, malaria accounted for an estimated 199, 689 deaths, of which 1,811 were reported. This is besides the 206, 139, 584 people who were vulnerable. Malaria statistics by country shows that the deaths due to malaria in Nigeria constitute about 31.9 per cent of the global malaria deaths; this is approximately 200,000 deaths in 2021. Over 60 million people are infected yearly and an estimated US$1.1 billion is lost yearly due to malaria related absenteeism and productivity losses. Nigeria is among the top 6 countries that account for ½ half of all the malaria related deaths worldwide. This number cuts across classes, ages, statuses and genders.

The Cost of Toying with Insecurity

Security or the lack of it is a very serious issue. In Nigeria, neither the government nor the people are doing anything about the burgeoning insecurity beyond the usual condemnation. The National Assembly is making permutations for the next round…

Reflections on The Bandit Economy

I will not go into the story of how or how not banditry became a burgeoning industry in Nigeria. I will leave that for historians to worry about. My concern should be about analysing the consequences of such a trade…
