How Rev Fr Osuagwu Was Killed By Gunmen In Imo

Details have emerged how gunmen suspected to be hired assassins killed Rev. Fr. Dennis Osuagwu, in Owerri, the Imo State capital as TheStreetReporters.com had earlier reported.

Osuagwu who was identified as a Catholic priest
who was a lecturer at the Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, was a member of the congregation of the Claretian Missionaries Eastern Province, Nigeria.

He was said to be heading to Saint Mark’s Catholic Chaplaincy, Obinze Barracks, where he served as a chaplain to conduct the day’s mass service for the
men of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

It was gathered by TheStreetReporters.com that the assailants ambushed him on the road near Avu Junction on Port Harcourt Road, Owerri, dragging him out of his Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV)
before firing several shots into his chest.

The Priest was left in the pool of his blood, leading to his death on the spot.

Sources disclosed that the assailants did not take any money from the priest’s car after killing him.

Osuagwu, who hailed from Obowo Local Government Area of the state, was until his death the Director of Students Industrial Works Experience Scheme at the Imo State Polytechnic,
Umuagwo.

He had celebrated his Silver Jubilee anniversary as a priest last year and was said to be among the
top contenders for the position of Superior-General of the Claretian priests come 2016.

The police is said to had already launched an investigation into the killing, an incident which the management of the Imo State Polytechnic has confirmed.

The school’s management has, however, refused to make further comment on the killing.
