Senate in Closed-Door Session, Unveils Second Ministerial List

Nigerian Senate at about 10:35am on Tuesday resolved to go into a closed-door section in order to, among other things, meet and determine the order for the ministerial nominees that “will be invited in; to decide who comes in first, who comes in second.”

The Upper legislative Chamber also  considered other modalities for the screening process.

The was disclosed by the Chairman of the Senate Ad hoc Committee on Media and Publicity, Dino Melaye, saying, the executive session was also meant to look at the new batch of nominees sent to the Senate by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He noted that the closed-door session was not as a result of the report of the Committee on Public Petitions, assuring that the screening of the ministerial nominees will commence in the “next one hour”.
Following Senate’s resumption from the closed-door session, names of the final list of ministerial nominees have been officially read out on the floor of the Senate by Senate President, Bukola Saraki as forwarded to the upper chamber by President Buhari.

Some of the names include: Okechukwu Enyinna Enelamah, Mr. James Ocholi, Professor Isaac Adewole, Professor Claudis Omoleye Daramola, Hon. Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, Alhaji Adamu Adamu, Hajia Aisha Abubakar.

Others on the list are Professor Anthony Anwuka (Imo State), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri (Bayelsa State), Brig.-Gen. Dan Ali (rtd).
