Christmas/New Year: FFS Trains 60 State Fighters Against Fire Disaster
The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has trained sixty State Fire Fighters in a two week intensive course on Fire Prevention and Code Enforcement against fire invidence during the yelutide and beyond.
The training at the National Fire Academy (NFA) Sheda Abuja is in keeping with the commitment of the FFS to boost relevant knowledge and skill on the fire fighters towards domestication of the code and its enforcement.
While issuing certificates to course participants at the National Fire Academy, the Controller General Federal Fire Service, Anebi Joseph Garba said the Federal Fire Service has offered to organise Fire Safety Plan Examiners/Code Enforcement and Fire investigation trainings respectively for the benefit of Fire Service personnel in the states.
Impressed by the number of participants from the States, the Fire Service boss charged them to take back to their various State Fire Services all that they had acquired as an ambassador of the college and impact positively on other colleagues in order to ensure effective  Fire Prevention and Code Enforcement at State and Local Government levels.
He said that the essence of the training which was to build State’s fire personnel capacity and enhanced synergy towards the domestication and effective code Enforcement, is already achieved.
He used the occasion to re-state his commitment towards turning around the NFA to a world class institute that would attract fire fighters from the sub-region and beyond.
Earlier, the commandant of the Academy, ACG Olusola Basiri had admonished them not to abdicate reading often the course material in order to become proficient and imbibe the Fire Safety Code as a Bible of study which contains the minimum safety standards in order to improve on the new assignment.
