Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Leaves DSS Custody, Remanded In Prison
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Director of Radio Biafra, Mazi Nnnamdi Kaku, is leave the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) on the orders of the court.
Justice James Tsoho of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday ordered that the founder of Radio Biafra be remanded in prison custody.
He has been in the custody of the DSS since his arrest last October.
He was arraigned along with Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi on a six-count charge.
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to all the six counts preferred against them.
‎
While ordering the remand of Kanu, the judge overruled a request by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Mohammed Diri, for an order further remanding the accused persons in the DSS facility.
The defence team, led by Mr. Chuks Mouoma (SAN), who had complained that the accused persons had been denied access to their families and lawyers since their arrest last year, saw the ruling as a relief.
