President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Hon. Ginika Florence Tor as a member of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) representing the South-East, as part of a fresh round of 26 federal appointments across 10 government agencies.
The appointments were announced on Monday in a State House statement signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, with all appointments taking immediate effect.
Hon. Tor joins the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission alongside Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo), and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi) as members of the Commission.
The President also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the Commission, while Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo), and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna) will serve as commissioners. Former member of the House of Representatives, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was named Secretary of the Commission.
The latest appointments also saw former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose appointed Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), while Abba Abubakar Aliyu retains his position as Director-General of the agency.
Other key appointments include Dr. Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Atomic Energy Commission, Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, and Engineer Julius Oloro as Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation.
Before her latest appointment, Hon. Ginika Florence Tor served as the Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission (FCC) from 2020 to 2025, having been appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
She currently serves as the Principal Liaison Officer to the APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Dr. Benjamin Obiora Nwoye, a position she assumed in April 2026.
Political observers say her appointment to the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission is expected to strengthen the South-East’s representation in one of the country’s key policy institutions responsible for matters relating to public sector salaries, wages and income administration.
The State House said all the appointments take effect immediately.
Hon. Tor’s appointment has attracted congratulatory messages from political associates, supporters and stakeholders, who described it as a recognition of her experience in public service and expressed confidence in her ability to contribute meaningfully to the work of the Commission.
