Protesting Enugu Nurses Get Enough Protective Materials
The management of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Teaching Hospital, Parklane, Enugu has reacted to the peaceful demonstration by the nurses demanding for sufficient protective materials, disclosing that the State Multi-sectoral Rapid Response Team including the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) WHO, Unicef, other development partners and philanthropists have provided enough quantities of those materials for which the nurses demonstrated.
A joint statement by the management of the hospital, leadership of the nurses in the institution and Chairman of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Comrade Ben Asogwa, stated that “these nurses were a few who were apprehensive of their frontline status in the management of COVID-19 pandemic”.
While regretting the incident, the hospital management and leadership of the nurses assured the public that they will continue to render health services at the highest level of care as has been the case.
