The Allied Arewa Defense Forum has frowned at second republic law maker, Junaid Mohammed’ attack on the convener of the Northern Elders Forum, Professor Ango Abdullahi describing it “as pent-up anger, the result of a complex cascade of events in Junaid’s life.”
In a statement reacting to a news report of Dr Junaid’s vituperation against Professor Ango Abdullahi, the group’s Kano State chapter chairman, Lawal Dan Tanko warned that “Junaid’s anger vented at the slightest of pretexts, resulting in his growing isolation from reality, might have tampered with his part of the brain that has empathy, that can see multiple sides of a situation, and hold compassion.
“As a fact, Junaid’s acquired self importance has made him susceptible to instincts that tell him that he is ready to fight, and in most cases, he does, even if just with words.
“Whenever he is in that mode, he feels good at name-calling or hitting below the belt, because his physiology would be telling him he is threatened.
“His growing incapacity at distinguishing a real threat from an imaginary one, and inability to assess situations fully, cause him to lose empathy and perspective when reacting to issues.
“Often times, people like Junaid are afraid that something they have will be taken away, which in political psychology, is known as perceived deprivation. That fear sometimes develop into anger toward the entire society, towards associates and towards elders and leaders.
“It is therefore no surprise that he reacted to the elderly Professor the way he did, because who knew him can attest to his sudden eelings of frustration over conversations with friends and even family which contributes to anger in public discourses.
“Junaid is typically known to findi it hard to connect with his house help including gatekeeper, family members or friends who don’t share his self-centered political beliefs and personal worldviews,” the statement said.
