A middle aged man, one Mohammed AbdulRahman, who has been arrested in Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja for impersonation as a Superintendent of Police and operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He was nabbed following a credible intelligence by the FCT Command of the Nigeria Police Force.
According to a statement signed by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusuf Mariam, the suspect is notorious for defrauding and attacking unsuspecting members of the public by parading himself as a ‘member of the Nigeria Police Force’.
“Acting on credible intelligence, on 17th January,2020 Police Operatives from Mabushi Division arrested one Mohammed Abdulrahman ‘m’ at Mabushi for impersonating as a Superintendent of Police and an operative of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission”, the Command’s spokesman said.
The press release added that “Preliminary investigation reveals that, the suspect habitually harasses residents along Mabushi Express axis under the façade of being a Police Officer thereby smearing the dignified image of the Nigeria Police Force.
“The exhibits recovered from the suspect are: two (2) warrant cards, one (1) handcuff, one (1) tear spray, one (1) black belt, one (1) red face cap, one (1) cutlass, one(1) boot and one(1) Toyota Camry black colour: AGL 541 ET. 4.
“While reassuring FCT residents of the Command’s unflinching commitment towards the protection of lives and property, the Commissioner of Police CP. Bala Ciroma wishes all residents a prosperous and peaceful year ahead”, the statement noted.
